Chocolate Slice

A childhood favourite; one bite into this little chocolatey morsel and I’m transported back to my six year old self!

Super simple and easy to make, all the ingredients are staples you should have in your pantry!

Chocolate Slice

Chocolate Slice

  • 1 ½ cups of S.R flour
  • ¾ cup of brown sugar
  • ¾ cup of coconut
  • 1 heaped tablespoon of cocoa powder
  • ¾ cup of margarine or butter, melted

  • 1 cup of icing sugar
  • 1 heaped tablespoon of cocoa powder
  • 2-3 tablespoons of hot or boiling water

  • Oven on: 180C
  • Simply mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl (no need to sift the flour!)
  • Pour the melted margarine or butter on top and stir to combine (you should have a soft chocolatey dough by the end)
  • Press the mixture into a pre-prepared square tin and pop into the oven for 20 minutes
  • As soon as the slice comes out of the oven, prepare the icing by sifting both the icing sugar and cocoa into a bowl.
  • Gradually add the hot water to the mixture until you have a texture that resembles soft Nutella.
  • Ice the slice immediately while still in the tin and sprinkle on top whatever takes your fancy!
  • Slice when cool.
  • Enjoy (preferably with a cold glass of milk!)
